FYI - it's too early to tell yet as I'm posting just as the update was released, but early reports in the original threads links below from Oct 29th showed one user saying his flicker problem is more frequent after the update.

Some others were more positive and hopefully remain so. Nic's post now only says: " For this issue please refer to your OEM for support. An ETA on this is currently unknown.

This can be used as a workaround until you are able to update your system BIOS from your system or motherboard manufacturer that includes MRC 1. And as of Early Nov, I've only seen 1 affected Mini owner that thought running 1 dimm helped - many more said it didn't. B03 after EFI update 1. Update: I saw 2 late Nov. Didn't say if they had a Mini 6,1 or Mini 6,2 server model in case that's a factor in SMC version differences. I've also included the versions of some related software files. I also saw this before creating a custom profile and monitor adjustments - image on Samsung LCD monitor was almost totally washed out.

Universal Access contrast setting wasn't the cause. Some monitors may have that option - my older hm model doesn't.

Despite having some adjustments in the Samsung hm menu's for all that including 3 gamma options , nothing at the monitor end really solved it until creating a custom display profile for it on the Mini. This firmware update is for improved performance better picture quality and PC compatibility.

If you have one of these models, Samsung recommends that you download and install the latest firmware update specifically designed for your monitor. The download is a PC exe. You do not want Overscan Enabled , you want a pixel map. If you've not already read it, see Apple's Mac mini early and later : Connecting to a TV and Apple's article: Learn about overscan and underscan.

More monitors are likely to be featuring USB C ports than Thunderbolt 3 ports, although Thunderbolt is faster and can take more power. USB-equipped displays are likely to be cheaper than Thunderbolt options, too. For more information about ports, here's a run down of some of Apple's different port types. Now that you have established which port your Mac and display have, you will need to find a cable to connect your Mac to the monitor. This cable doesn't need to be from Apple, but it will need to have the right connections.

However, it's likely you will require an adapter if you want to connect to a display that uses VGA or DVI, but before we get onto adapters there's one other thing you will need to consider when buying a cable or an adapter:. You need to check whether the connection on the back of your display has female or male endpoints. The Apple adapters are female, so if the port on the back of your monitor is also female in other words has holes not spikes you will need a male to female adapter. It's no good trying to hook up your Mac to a monitor if the cable or adapter is to short. Remember you will need enough cable to go from the back of the display to your port on the Mac.

You can buy adapters from a number of third parties, and they may well be cheaper than Apple's offerings. However, it appears that since Apple unleashed macOS Sierra some third-party adapters no longer work, so we would recommend that you buy an Apple adapter, or at least one that is sold by Apple. This would include the HD movies found on the iTunes Store. We can't confirm whetehr it works but it says it's for the MacBook, so we assume it does.

Dual-link is for DVI displays with resolutions above x There are a number of issues you may experience with your display setup. Here we address some of them.
